~God blessed Mountain Man with safe travel home Monday evening. It was already snowing and beginning to get dangerous in some areas. Truly, there's always that quiet sigh and whisper of thanks when he walks in the door.
~We haven't had frozen pipes! Need I say more?
~We've had heat! So many in our surrounding areas are without natural gas. The Lab has even been closed for the next three days. We've had a hard time keeping warm even with the heat on, so I can't imagine having little children and trying to stay warm with these temperatures. We're so thankful for what we often consider the basics...warm beds, heat, a home.
~Mountain Man was able to bless a neighbor by getting her water heater working again, packing down her driveway with our van, and getting her truck shoveled out and ready to drive. How thankful I am to have a husband who is healthy and able to do all of those things, and who doesn't hesitate to help another.
~We're thankful we didn't run out of anything these first couple days of the snow....we had enough diapers, enough food, enough toilet paper, ENOUGH.
~We're thankful for children who love to be outside, no matter the temperature. I think they're just crazy brave, and you can tell from Little Bit's face here that it is VERY cold here. She lost her mittens in the snow drifts and still wanted to stay outside with her siblings. That's our Little Bit.
And yet another praise is the healing of my Dad's foot. After battling with an infection for over a year (perhaps closer to 2), his foot is almost completely healed after having surgery just a week ago. How merciful God is!
Love,

He really is so good to us. We have been stuck inside for 4 days is TX now. We have lived here for 5 years now and this has never happened. It has been a real blessing-we have played in the snow and made soup and cookies, watched movies, drawn, played games, and lots of other stuff. It has been nice for us all to be home and together. I did venture out for some more milk and things we needed and even then God got me there safely and back home.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me to be thankful for these everyday little blessings that add up to be so much more.
It has been a glorious week. No schedules, no going anywhere-just rest and peace and family time.
Hope you all stay warm and thanks for sharing-we have been blessed with no broken pipes and our heat still working too-very blessed indeed.
Hugs-
Jill
Wow!! Looks like y'all have been having fun. :) That is quite a bit of snow!!! :) I don't think we got that much (though I am horrible at guessing measurements), so we are thankful! :) Those poor baby calves have a hard time in this kind of weather.. we lost one already. :(
ReplyDeleteKeep warm!! If ya need to, y'all are more than welcome to come here! ;)
Love you! Sarah
I guess NM set its newest low record. 34 below 0!! It beat our record of 11 below in 2006! Brrr.
ReplyDeleteWe have been sleeping in the living room next to the fireplace. Our house is so long the heat can't keep up. Sarah and I have our mattresses, and the boys are more then happy to have the couch or chairs. :D
Love,
Rebecca
Jill,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you've been warm and very blessed as well! These times of snuggling up with the family and just enjoying one another are priceless, aren't they? Love and hugs!
Sarah and Rebecca,
Oh, I'm sorry it's been so COLD in the house, too! I know that you'll look back with great fondness at these nights in front of the fireplace. I can hear you telling the stories now....because that's what you Heckendorns are very good at...turning things around and seeing God's blessings in them! We love you all!
The snow is beautiful. The children
ReplyDeleteeven more so. Their little noses are so red from the cold. Very thankful that you had the necessities. What a trooper Ben was to be there for your neighbor.
Love you so much. Miss you.
