Thankful Thursday~A Little Bit of Hunny

"Blessed be childhood, which brings down something of heaven
into the midst of our rough earthliness."
~Henri Frederic Amiel

I'm thankful for hunny-coated days, courtesy of uber-sweet 2 year olds gleaning inspiration from the great Pooh Bear.

Mirthful Monday~Are You Ok? That Was Awesome!

Have you ever watched "fail" videos?

It's great to have your own. Why always be a spectator? Life's too boring that way.

Notice the difference between Luke and Emma as they react to Jake's...well, just watch. (Be sure to turn off the music before playing video, and be prepared for some LOUD commentary. :))

Kudos to Jake for being such a good sport and letting me share the video. :)

Grieg's Peer Gynt~Lego Style

We study several composers throughout each school year. Currently we're listening to Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt, which is composed of several very familiar tunes. I'm sure Grieg never would have imagined his compositions being played out by tiny plastic figures!

Enjoy!

THE Laugh

This is a VERY short video, but it's enough to give you a good idea of the delightful laugh we hear many times a day from Peep.

She's Joined the Club and Why I Can Bear These Workouts

The weather is colder and that means the exercise DVDs are dusted off and in use again.

This time, we have another workout partner. That's right. Peep is now part of the fun.....even if it's just to tell the instructor to put on a sweater and step things up a bit.

And here are two of the reasons I'm able to stick with these workouts........(at least for now. :))

Don't you wish you had such inspiring exercise buddies?

Agent 7's Mission: Impossible

"Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to wire-drop into an impenetrable CIA vault to locate and swipe an important computer disc, containing a vital list of secret agent info. As usual, should you fail, we will avow no knowledge of you or your venture..."

"...well, okay, you're so cute we won't go to that extreme; but you really need to get that thing! Only you, Agent 7, know the play-pen like the back of your hand..."

MISSION: ACCOMPLISHED

Recitations by Reaches Up and Whistler

Here's Reaches Up reciting this poem we posted awhile ago..."Your Duty"

Here is Whistler reciting "Pirate Story" by Robert Louis Stevenson, one of our favorite writers and poets.

Estudio in E Minor

Little Big Man has officially been taking guitar lessons for less than 4 months. (For a bit before that, Mountain Man was teaching him some basics on the guitar.) We're so proud of him for taking his lessons seriously and working hard. Being a lefty, he's had to adjust to playing right-handed, and we're amazed at how easily he's adapted. Our initial $60.00 investment for a used guitar has been well worth it, and now Little Big Man is saving up for a much nicer, better sounding instrument. Here he is playing Estudio in E Minor (and he says to remind the grandparents he'll sound even better when he gets his new guitar....)

Not Quite What He Expected

A hawk and knife competition is coming up this weekend. While Reaches Up was practicing yesterday, he got a bit of a surprise. :)

The Poff Tones Perform "Rock Monster"

We used to watch all of the Veggie Tales DVDs until we decided that we didn't care for the way that the Bible Stories were presented. However, we still enjoy the silly humor of the ones that address certain character traits, such as Madame Blueberry (my personal favorite). We recently enjoyed watching The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, which closed with a performance of the song "Rock Monster" (Tune is from an old song called "Rock Lobster." Any of you remember that? :))

So, here are the Poff Tones and their rendition of this very silly song. (I wanted to post the words for you, but I haven't been able to find them....)

Flying Spuds

Thanks to our dear friend, Mr. R., the boys enjoyed some "flying spuds" today as they worked with this potato cannon.

PVC + potatoes +hairspray=great backyard ballistics!

Reaches Up's Piano Lounge Performance

Ok, grandparents, do you remember this song? The only thing missing from this performance is a nice big "TIPS" jar!

Be Inspired

My Reaches Up inspires me...I do wish I had his youthful brain cells and that I had started memorizing God's Word when I was younger in such large passages as he is doing at 6 years old. It's never too late, though! We hope you'll be inspired to hide more of God's Word in your hearts as you watch him recite all of James Chapter 1. To God be the glory!

Little Big Man Jams

As promised, here's Little Big Man's first guitar video after 5,672 takes. It's quite difficult to have complete quiet in our house, you know. Enjoy!
