Attack of the Snow Leopard

Living up to his strong name, Jedediah Poff took down a dangerous snow leopard found stalking the Poff Clan this past Wednesday evening.

"I might be only five months old, but I already know that my age shouldn't keep me from doing hard things," this cutie pie told reporters.

"Really.  It wasn't as hard as you might think.  Perhaps my bright colored binky terrified him.  All I know is I had to protect my lovely sisters and show the hawk and knife throwing men in this house that I'm a babe to be reckoned with."

Known as "Cap'n" to his family, Jedediah not only killed the leopard, he also stuffed it so his sisters could enjoy the memories of his heroic deeds for years to come.

"Yes, my family has quite a few books.  Just the other day, Reaches Up was reading a taxidermy book to me.  It seemed a good time to put into practice what I had learned."

It's still a mystery how the snow leopard, an animal found in the mountains of Central Asia, ended up in the Poff home.  We are glad to report that Jedediah was not hurt and his binky was intact.  He's considering hosting his own animal show when he turns five.

The Language of Faith

Five Months

Mirthful Mondays~What Did He Do?

Merry on a Monday sometimes means multiple posts, especially because I'm very forgetful these days when I want to remember so much.

Mommy:  "Ella, I just ordered you four dresses!"

Ella:  "Thank you, Mommy!"

Mommy: "They should be here next week."

Ella:  "Yay!"

Mommy: "Go tell Daddy thank you."

Ella:  "Why?  What did he do?"

Pause.  

Mommy:  "He paid for them."

Because merry is always welcome on a Monday, we're gonna make Mondays around here Mirthful Mondays.  May you smile BIG.

Little Big Man is THE Man!

Our rugged Mountain Men returned this afternoon.  Oh, how they're looking forward to a good night's sleep in their warm beds. :)

Time at camp was wonderful, and Little Big Man whooped everyone at the hawk and knife throw.  After round three, he was so far ahead, the contest ended.  It was impossible for the other men to catch up and win.  So, he came home with yet another Bomboy knife to add to his extensive collection.  And while we boast in his throwing skills, we're even more thankful that he was such a blessing at camp.

He would get up each morning and get the fire going and have a hot drink waiting for Mountain Man.  He showed much initiative at camp with taking care of things, making dinner, and cleaning up.  And, he had a very teachable spirit and demonstrated humility.  Praise be to God!

This is Mr. Bomboy, maker of these great knives.  He was rushed to the hospital the first day of camp and is currently recovering from a minor heart attack and pneumonia.  The guys are visiting him right now.  Would you please pray for his healing and his salvation?

This man loves our boys like they were his own grandchildren, and from the hospital he called just to make sure Corey was doing well.  Thank you for praying for him!

Freezing Toes

They left two days ago for the annual Frozen Toes Rendezvous.

Scribe wasn't joining them this year since sleeping on the hard ground isn't very appealing after surgery.

Little Big Man stepped up to the plate, though, and did a great job getting everything packed and the meals planned.

They arrived safely to camp, and it's been very COLD.  Little Big Man says a tent stove is a must for next year.  They're the only campers without one.

It's several days of shootin' and throwin', meals around the campfire, and special father and son time.

We can't wait to have them back home!

Blue Skies

Blue skies.  It was the perfect day for a walk.  The best thing of all?  Scribe was coming, too.

Little sister on shoulders of big brother. 

He's learning early to shoulder the weight.

Her favorite way to "walk."

Brother and sister.  Arm in arm.  No bickering.  

Pretty princess.  Handsome son.

Sweet sister-friends.

Dead sunflower stalks make just the right swords.

Swing.  Lurch.  Pounce.  

 Watch out for your baby sister, formidable foe that she is.

And why walk when you can run?

Holding hands is good.

Slumber just a bit.

Journey home.

Praise God for blue skies.  Continual healing.  His goodness and mercy.  Big and little.  Look up to.  Watch out for.  Living together.  Strong Arm that sustains us.

Chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast.  Birthday sign by brothers.  Royal family dollhouse people.  Toy terrier.  Sterling silver amethyst necklace.  Multitude of Mercies Journal.  Balancing the Sword books.  Swallows and Amazons book.  Bookmarks.  Candy.  Bible puzzle book.  Calendar.  Marinated sirloin.  Sweet Tea.  Baked Potatoes.  Green Beans.  French Bread.  Poppy Seed Muffins.  Happy Birthday wishes.  Laughter.  A year of growing in the Lord.  Becoming more like Christ.  Sweet memories.  TEN.
