Because It's Time to Hang Up My Blogging Shoes

It's time to say "good-bye," my friends. I've been posting here four years, and it's been wonderful. I have a collection of memories saved in this spot that will bring me and my family joy for years to come. And I have made so many precious friends along the way.

I know we all want to know the "why" behind someone's decision to stop blogging,   but my "why" doesn't come in a tidy package that I can offer up here. I'm not tired of blogging, and there's a bit of sadness in walking away from this little place. Still, I need to obey, knowing my heart will eventually follow.

Thank you for reading and commenting and being a great source of
encouragement to me. Thank you for loving my family in word and deed. Thank you for your prayers!

Each of you has been a blessing beyond words, and I am truly grateful. I look forward to staying connected through e-mail or Facebook (at BenandTrisha Poff) or your blogs. (And snail mail is still a wonderful thing!)

Much love and many hugs,
Trisha

  1. Dear Sweet Trisha, I have been blessed beyond words by the time and energy and wisdom you have poured into each of us through this blog. Thank you for sharing your family with us, and thank you for being obedient. You are a godly example- one of the very few bloggers that I felt have mentored by in a way. Prayers and hugs! And thank you for once again showing us all what it means to follow Christ!

  3. Trisha:

Connecting with you via the internet and beyond has been such a blessing. I appreciate your friendship so much and thank God for you. It goes without saying that you will be missed here, but God will be glorified in your obedience. Blessings on you and your lovely family.

  4. Oh...I feel sick! I am soooo sad! Oh how I will miss you!!!! (You already know that, I am sure!!) But, I do know that the LORD is Greater than all, and that HE is to be followed at any cost!! I follow HIM with you my friend. And, sometimes that looks a little different for each of us. How wonderful it is to know you, and yes...we will keep in touch!! Please, please, please leave your archives up. Or, at the very least get it all published in a book for your sweet family to have in years to come. (Just my two cent's worth...for what it's worth)! Your words have (and will continue to) bless many...I am one of those. Thank you for being faithful to the LORD and for sharing the things HE has taught you....

    SO MUCH LOVE!!!!

  5. I have only met you on your blog a month ago- and I have loved all of it. You are a very wonderful example of a Godly woman and her family. I love to think of you - your love for God and your Savior and His Word and your Husband and Children- and Books- I love to read about the daily life with its blessings and mercies of a wonderful home educated family like yours. I praise God that He has raised up a family like yours to advance Christs Kingdom. God bless you very richly

  7. No way. I look forward to your blog each morning when I get up. Okay, I understand, so I will love you anyway. After
all, I am your mom, and I support you in everything you do. I know your heart is following what the good Lord has
directed you to do. Love you and praying for all the Poffs.

  9. Dear Sweet Trisha,
I have mixed emotions. I am proud of you for obeying our wonderful Lord but saddened that I will miss getting to visit you and your precious family! Not getting to see little Elijah grow up and little Cap'n and Clairesy as they grow cuter by the day is hard to think about. I feel like I know all of you and I have loved sharing your life here on the web. Please do keep in touch through e-mail and/or snail mail. I am not on FB. I love you all.
    Love & Prayers,
    Sandy

  10. Good for you for moving forward in obedience even when you don't feel like it and expect the decision to be misunderstood. My dad just made a decision like that in May, and the Lord's reasons (some at least) quickly became apparent. May the Lord richly bless your family in this stage of life. (I'm only sorry I didn't meet you sooner!)

  15. Can we take a vote? You know this is an election year! I was just getting to "know" you and really enjoy your blog. Ok, we won't MAKE you continue to blog (as if we could) but I will miss your insight, wisdom and honesty. You love of God and His word is a breath of fresh air that is much needed in this world polluted with secularism. If you ever make your way to central Texas let me know and maybe we can meet in the real world! ;o) Blessings to you and your beautiful family!

  16. Trisha, With NINE children, why would you even begin to think that you need to give a reason why? I can't believe you did this for four years, did it well, and also faithfully served your beautiful family! You are truly an amazing woman! But please do keep in touch my friend. You have my email! AND if you guys decide to take that vacation to Tahoe, PLEASE contact us. It's only 20 minutes from here and we can meet up for dinner.

    Much love to you.

    XOXOXO!

PS. I'll keep your link on my blog just in case you get the Joneses and just have to post something. ;)

  17. Trisha, I would be lying if I said this didn't cause saddness in me. I will miss your blog so much! You have offered so much encouragement and wisdom to me in my young marriage and toward my parenting too ... all the while always pointing me to Christ! I am SO glad to stay connected with you other ways. I truly cherish your friendship and know God bringing you into my life was an answered prayer! Love you much, sweet friend! :)

  19. I'm quite saddened to see you leave the blogosphere especially now that I've only just discovered your wonderful corner of it here, however I know what it's like to move on when God calls us to. :) Will miss you, Mrs. Poff, but may God's guidance, peace and joy go with you in all that you do. :) xo <><

  20. Oh, sad! :(

I have loved to read your writing, Trisha.

Perhaps you will return someday...no pressure...I'm just thinking the nice thing about these blogs is that unless we delete them, we can come back to them when we're ready...

Many hugs to you, my friend!

  21. My sweet friend, I'm so thankful to have peeked in tonight as my eyes are getting sleepy...to see your blogging farewell! (Now wide awake!) I will miss your sweet and wise posts...and I completely understand. :o) It has been a huge blessing to have simplified in this way myself. So rather than go on about how much I'll miss you at this address on the internet, let me say that I commend you in your obedience and I pray God pours His blessings on you as you follow His path, wherever He leads you. I love you dearly, admire you greatly, and pray for you regularly. I'm so thankful that in His perfect timing He brought us together as friends through this blog thing - and then brought us together as neighbors. You are a blessing to my soul more than you'll ever know this side of heaven, and I am so thankful that the Lord saw fit to allow me the joy of your friendship that started on the internet. And now I get to hug your neck and kiss your cheek! What a precious gift! So farewell and adios from these here parts, and may God bless your decision with rejoicing the ways He guides you. I love you. And I pray to make it to your side of the mountain in the next couple of weeks!

  44. Awww, rats! I have to say, though, I'm very glad that you've got so much in the way of archives that I haven't yet read (and reading again is always a good thing when you wrote it). I'm no good at following blogs, but whenever I checked yours I was always encouraged! I know that blogging takes a LOT of time and energy, so I don't blame you for ceasing....but first it was your other blog, and now this one. *sigh* Snail mail, here I come!

    Love you!
