Why Did You Do It?

When I decided to end my posting at A Multitude of Mercies, I told no one. Not even my husband and children.

Why? Because even though in the counsel of many you'll find wisdom, sometimes you just need to obey, and not analyze something to death.

And I knew they'd try to stop me. :)

Even now, as I get the questions, I start second-guessing, like the clueless person with "stupid" stamped on his forehead, who wonders why everyone is looking at him like that.

I love my other blog, and it was never a burden to me. So, I didn't quit because I didn't have anything else to say or because it was laborious to write there. In my heart, it was a sacrifice to walk away for now, but I do believe it's what God directed me to do.

There is a season for everything. After managing both blogs for a year and a half, having so many Littles who need Mama very much, grieving over my Dad's death,  begging God to pour out His mercies on my cousin, Michele, and managing everything in between, I knew I needed to let something go.

The Good Life is our family blog, and we started it three years ago. Ink used to write here with me, but then he flew the coop and ventured out on his own. Occasionally, one of our other children will have something to say, but for the most part, I write here.

And anyone who blogs knows that blogging takes time, and God has sobered me up these days about how I'm spending that time.

So, essentially and unintentionally, I've morphed the blogs into one. That's not easy, I know, because family who want to just see what we're doing and what we look like doing it, aren't often interested in my thoughts and prose on deeper things. On the other hand, those who want to be encouraged by what I'm learning along the way, aren't necessarily desiring to see my baby take his first steps or watch my daughter recite Scripture.

Yet, it is what it is, even if I don't know myself what it really is. :) Thank you to those friends who followed me over here and have already encouraged my heart a million times over. Thank you, too, for the faithful friends and family who have read and commented since day one. I thank God for your steady presence and support!

Much love,

  1. I completely understand. I have 2 blogs, once for business and one for my own sharing of life. It's very hard to keep up with my life blog, since it's very necessary to keep up with my business one. I don't post most days, other than a daily devotion. Most days no one even reads my blog, so I wonder sometimes why keep it up. I think it's mainly for myself. It helps me put my thoughts down like a journal and that's much easier than keeping a notebook to do that in.

I enjoy reading your thoughts, family and school. Please continue.
    Have a blessed day!

  2. I like the idea of a morphed blog Trisha. I have wondered before if I should split different streams of thought into separate blogs, but ...nah!

    I will be following:)

  3. I might not be a faithful commentor, but I do so enjoy reading your blog posts, Trisha, and it doesn't bother me whether they are here or on your other blog! Your family are beautiful and I love reading about them, and whatever's on your heart. I'm thankful you haven't given up blogging altogether and want you to know that you have encouraged me many many times! I have multiple blogs and honestly, it's almost impossible to keep them all going with regularity unless I devote a lot of (or too much) time blogging. I've wondered about merging my blogs too, but haven't gotten to that point yet!

  4. I am thankful you haven't given up on blogging altogether. I actually like this blog, it's who you are. Love looking at pictures of the "kidlets" and I also get much from your posts on what God may be showing you..I just think it's a perfect match

  5. I understand and I hope that I had commented something that added in to part of that confusion-I just love reading your blogs and have always followed both-I am just most glad that you aren't leaving it altogether-that would make me sad :( I have so enjoyed reading your blogs-so wise and full of the spirit-you radiate Jesus and I so enjoy that. I am so glad that I have been blessed by your friendship on here-love you friend.

  8. Well I like your new combined approach most definitely! LOVE to see what your precious family is up to and LOVE to hear what wisdom you might share. You always encourage, Trisha. Always mindful of others. Yes it does take a lot of time, but it takes obedience to minister too. And you do that for lots of people. I'm glad you didn't give up the blogging altogether like I did! Besides...you have MUCH more to say that's worthy of being said! Woohoo to morphing two into one!

    Love you!

  12. Dearest Trisha, I do love to see your baby take his first steps or watch your daughter recite Scripture. You've morphed two blogs into one, and my head has exploded into two, although I've yet to figure out how to do both at the same time. It's probably not going to happen. I may write there or over there but not everywhere. And I can't tell you how many times I want to walk away from all of it and move into the woods. Plus I've got a confession to make, but I'll wait until I can spill it into your ear. :-)

Love and hugs, a bunch of them too!

  13. I like it! Good decision my friend! May the LORD continue to guide you in the days ahead and give you wisdom to *balance it all* for HIS glory alone. And yippee...I think this will work out very nicely. Very nicely, indeed!

    Love to you!

  14. Hi Trisha....I have to admit, I was SHOCKED to see your announcement that you were discontinuing your MOM blog for now....however, I totally understand and always wondered how you kept them both up like you did.

I love your blog...whatever you post is encouraging and uplifting...and please don't leave out the family pictures and moments :)

Thank you for your commitment and your family's to praying for me and for our family. It gives the story of Moses a real meaning to us as others "hold up our hands" when we are too weary and cannot hold up our own.

Thank you so much for loving on us....you were an angel in our life....and still are!!

We love your family!!! Please give them all hugs and tell them thank you for praying.

    Michele
