If you took a walk with us, you wouldn't only have tangled hair and dusty shoes at the end of the road, you'd also learn to savor life a bit more and your heart would spill over with thankfulness.
No iPod or cell phone needed. You can even leave your Kindle at home, too. We'd show you that walking 2 miles in less than 30 minutes is overrated.
We prefer an hour and a half.
We'd remind you that hair blowing in the wind warms the heart and yellow flowers make you smile.
You'd remember there's nothing quite so precious as baby feet basking in the sun. You'd praise God for the miracle of ten toes.
You'd be amazed that there could be so much color along the desert road, and you, too, would want your own stick.
You'd thank God for the simple joy of holding hands, Big helping Little.
You'd have to stop and smell the wildflowers and maybe even study them a bit more closely, too. You'd consider all the details of God's creation you've been overlooking for years now.
You'd remember what it's like to just enjoy the moment for what it is, not fretting over what you still have left to do or what unknowns the future holds.
The horses would compel you to stop. You'd wonder at their beauty and thank the God who made them all.
You'd remember frisbee is a game to be played almost anywhere. No electricity required.
You might even feel the urge to sprint a bit, pondering the grace God gives you to run THE race well.
You'd look at all the smiles around you, remembering every good thing you have was bought with a price, the blood of Jesus.
You'd think of that person whose burden you want to make lighter. You'd think of ways to carry them when they're weary and can't go on.
You'd remember not to rush so much, and you'd take time to pet the horses.
And after the initial shock, you'd learn to rejoice even when covered with horse spit.
You'd be more mindful of the "least of these," ready to offer a helping hand or a strong shoulder.
You'd discover the adventure that awaits you in a sunflower.
And in your imagination.
Slumping baby chin would remind you of the gift of having loved ones to lean on and of belonging to the One who lifts you up.
You'd remember God gives you the privilege of being the hands and feet of Jesus to others.
You'd praise God for the gift of slowness and the joy of drinking of His mercies so fully and gratefully.Any takers? :)
With love,

Oh, I'd love to take a walk with you! I should have done this yesterday. The weather was beautiful with a bit of a breeze. We will do it today!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me that there is so much to enjoy out there! All thanks be to God.
And yellow flowers are my favorite :)
Love this post.
WONDERFUL photos, Trisha! I just love this post!!! So sweet and so encouraging!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this post. Wish I could have went too. What lovely precious moments. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteBlossom,
ReplyDeleteWe're waiting with shoes on. :) May you enjoy your walk today, praising Him for His amazing creation.
Amy,
Thank you, my friend! :)
Momof3girls,
It was a delightful walk. I love how my children can enjoy just sticks and rocks and wildflowers.
Pam,
What a walk that would be! We're in NM, and I hated it when we first moved here from Tennessee. But, God has filled my heart with a love for where He's put us, and I'm so thankful! Even in this desert, we get snow. :)
Can I come take a walk with you?? :) That sounds like a lot of fun. :) I absolutely loved the one of Cap'n resting his chin on big brother's head! So sweet and precious.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these wonderful photos! They lifted my heart today. :)
count me in =D
ReplyDeleteI cried through the whole post. It's absolutely beautiful! I would LOVE to walk with your family!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Trisha! :)
ReplyDeleteOh how I loved this post! I definitely want to go too...Isn't it wonderful to just "be" to enjoy the little things you see along the way, smell the flowers, feel the breeze and the sun at the same time, move slowly not in a hurry to get anywhere at all?? Glorious...thanks for taking us along. : )
ReplyDeleteSo sweet, the photos are amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how much I would enjoy such a walk with all of you! You also have no idea how many many times I've been tempted to drive that distance to pay you a visit with real hugs and eye to eye conversations and tear to tear prayers, and if it weren't a three day drive, or if I weren't too chicken to drive alone, I would have done it already, many times over!! I do love you!
ReplyDeleteI have both hands stretched out and ready to walk with you and your littles. Thank you for such a sweet and endearing post.
ReplyDeleteHope your big birthday girl likes her bracelets. :0)
Love,
Sandy
Beautiful pics of your children. We'd love to take a stroll with your family, too. Lydia was telling me this evening that it would be nice to see you again this side of heaven. :)
ReplyDeleteCount me in! With autumn setting in on the Great Lakes, I'm amazed that other parts of the country are still wearing short sleeves. Do you know what these pictures reminded me of? The beginning of Little House on the Prairie when the girls are running down the slope away from the covered wagon. There is such joy in their run, and such joy in your kids' faces on their walk. What a blessed time you had together. Take me on another one soon please!
ReplyDeleteI'll take that!!! Beautiful photos and words, my dear friend! LOVE the one of all four girls...are you planning on blowing that one up and framing it?!? Goodness me, it's just stunning! All of them are, though. Precious, precious family.
ReplyDeleteLoved the pictures. The flowers
ReplyDeletewere beautiful, and of course, I loved the pictures of those precious children. Looks like they
