The Post My Mama's Been Waiting For

A week of quiet on this blog is like a year to my dear Mama. :) Life is going on, I promise, but it's in the midst of tears. It's not sentimental mush that make the holidays so hard when loved ones are missing from the table. It's those precious memories of what a person added to the celebration, added to your life.

I'm so thankful God's grace has restrained me and kept me afloat! He's given me much compassion for others who are suffering right now, and He's given me The Little People to speak His truths at just the right time.

Just last night I was tearful while changing Claire's diaper (no it wasn't that bad!) and she asks,"Why are you crying, Mommy?"

"I'm just missing Michele."

Without pause, she admonishes, quite emphatically, "Why?! Her with God!"

Truly, our God, in the midst of sorrow and affliction, blesses our days with such evidences of His grace, that it's hard to not praise Him, praise Him, praise Him.

Sweet baby feet hanging over the bed...does this make anyone else's heart HAPPY?

Saw this in a magazine and loved the idea. Warning: Don't do this if you have Littles and don't want to see them climbing the counters every half hour. :)

Chief Cake Thief (Cap'n grabbed bits of cake when he thought we were too busy playing Farkle to notice. And yes, we were. For just a minute. :))

Awkward attempts at a sleeping position and SERIOUS droopy drawers. But, I'd rather look at a diaper ANY DAY than a grown man's boxers while his pants are at his knees!

Victim of siblings' love for dress-up  Resident Pirate

The only type of photo I can seem to get of our Ink Slinger. He makes me wish I had taken every logic course ever written (if you're the Mama of a little boy, there's your warning. Get going.), and he keeps me laughing. While going through the check-out at Wal-Mart yesterday, "The Sexiest Man Alive" headline caught his eye. Not missing a beat, he says, "Oh well, I guess there's no need to keep trying for that one."

Over the past week, we've had a septic tank emergency and praised God for His many mercies to us in that little crisis. We celebrated His past goodness to us with our Rejoicing Feast. We've worshipped with the saints and have known the blessing of good words and the prayers of others interceding for us. We've had the privilege of providing for others as they are in the midst of their own suffering. We've battled our flesh and lost over and over. We've tasted God's grace and forgiveness. We've been reminded daily to give thanks in all things.

Thank you for your continued prayers, and I ask you to please pray for my Mom as she faces the first Thanksgiving without my Dad. Please pray, too, for Michele's family. Oh, she was the glue that kept everyone together. She made the memories. Please pray for much comfort for her family as they feel the emptiness of her absence.

And if everyone is around your table, and you've known no sorrow or heartache of late, praise the LORD for His mercies and remember to treasure every moment for the gift of the mountain top. If you're in the valley, thank the LORD that He makes it impossible to not praise Him because He daily showers us with so many gifts! Thank Him, too, for the spiritual growth that only comes from His refining fire.

Happy Thanksgiving!! May your hearts overflow with endless praises to the LORD!

Much love,
Trisha

  4. Ahh, what a good post. I am so glad that you are feeling better about everything. I know you will still have bad days, but it is nice when they start getting further and further apart. :)

Hearing what Corey said just cracked me up! Did he give you permission to post that or did you sabatoge your parental rights and post it anyway? Haha!!!

  5. I had been wondering where you were, too. Not just your mama!
Glad you are all doing well. I will continue to pray for all concerned regarding Michele and just try to remember little Claire's question to you. Out of the mouths of babes...
I love you and pray all of you have the blessing of His presence 'round your table this Thanksgiving and always.

  6. Enrolling in that Logic course, right now. Pretty sure I'll make good use of it when my oldest gets to be Ink's age.

I know this will be an especially difficult Thanksgiving season for you, and I also know you are thankful for all that you still have. May a cornucopia of God's grace fill you up, when you're feeling the void. Thank you for continuing to bear your soul and allow God to work in you through the pain.

    Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

  8. What a pleasant surprise when I
checked your BLOG this morning (Like I do every morning) and saw
your post. What a blessing. Claire is full of wisdom,. ! ! ! Love all
    the pictures. My granddaddy (Mama's
dad) always loved babies feet. When he was in Lake Taylor I could
only take you outside to his window so he could see his grandchildren. He would always tell me to kiss all my babies' feet. He always thought babies' feet were so precious. Thanks again for the post. It made my day.
    LOVE AND HUGS,

  10. I've missed your posts and wondered where you've been. I am so sorry for your pain. I always prefer being in the light beams of life instead of the dark shadows...not easy - not at all.
Love the pix, as always. And your post so encouraged me.
We've had a rough few days around here for a few serious reasons and then the regular little calamities that come.
I love your perspective sweet sister - thanks for the post.
There is so much to be thankful for.
    Blessings and Hugs,

  14. I am so glad to see you on here today. I have been praying for your sweet heart this week, I figured your absence was because the holidays were approaching and with everything still so fresh on your heart that is was heavy. I am sorry for not getting your card out sooner-I was out and thinking of you and purchased a card but hadn't gotten to get to mail it yet. I am sorry for it being late. It is on it's way and know that you are being prayed for and loved tons.
Love those baby feet and the sweet words of wisdom-out of the mouths of babes-I had a situation like that this week with my Derek I will have to share later. Made me stop dead in my tracks and thank God for His spirit in my sweet son's heart and made me feel shameful that I was not thinking on the situation with the same spirit he had. My children teach me daily about my faith-to have faith as a child.
Those pictures of Cap cracked me up-he is so precious-so full of life-those eyes and smile. I would love to scoop him up and hug his neck and kiss those cheeks. You have the most beautiful babies.
Youe son sounds like he has the humor of my Derek who will be 10 tomorrow! He makes me laugh daily with the things he says, the funny part is most of the time he isn't tying to be funny.
Praying for peace and His loving grace to get you through this holiday season my sweet friend. I am so thankful for you and your friendship and your prayers and kind words of encouragement to me.
Praying for your sweet mama and Michele's family as well-praying that their lives and hearts will be filled with wonderful memories and experiences that will make new special memories that will help each year seem a little easier. Thanksgiving with Jesus-what a great day your dad and Michele will have-can you imagine?!
Love you dear friend. So very thankful for you- when counting my blessing this week I had to count you twice. Hugs-so thankful for you.
    Love you
    Jill
