When All Thy Mercies, O My God

Not only is this a perfect hymn for the month of November, but for every day of the year. My favorite line is, "Through all eternity to Thee, A joyful song I'll raise; But, oh, eternity's too short, To utter all Thy praise!"

Here's a link to the version we're singing.
When All Thy Mercies, O My God

When All Thy Mercies, O My God
by Joseph Addison (1672-1719)

When all thy mercies, O my God,
My rising soul surveys,
Transported with the view, I'm lost
In wonder, love, and praise.

Unnumbered comforts to my soul
Thy tender care bestowed,
Before my infant heart conceived
From whom those comforts flowed.

When worn with sickness, oft hast thou
With health renewed my face;
And, when in sins and sorrows sunk,
Revived my soul with grace.

Ten thousand thousand precious gifts
My daily thanks employ;
Nor is the least a cheerful heart
That tastes those gifts with joy.

Through every period of my life
Thy goodness I'll pursue;
And after death, in distant worlds,
The glorious theme renew.

Through all eternity to thee
A joyful song I'll raise;
For O, eternity's too short
To utter all thy praise.

  1. We sang this in church last week. Such wonderful words!

    (I like the original tune from the Trinity hymnal better than Indelible Grace's version.)

  3. Persis,
    That's wonderful! I didn't know Indelible Grace sang a version of this. We use the Trinity in our worship service along with another hymnal, so I'm used to the traditional tunes that go with these.

    Mountain Mama,
    Yes, it is! :)

    Jill,
    Amen, my friend. Hugs and love to you, too!
