Our sweet Clairesy is FOUR today!! Happy Birthday, precious daughter!
There's a reason this super Cutie-Pie is named Claire Jubilee. Her story is included in the Poff History of Ebenezers, Otherwise Known as an Account of the Marvelous Deeds of Their God (sounds a bit Puritanesque, doesn't it?). All of us have stories like this in our history books. The question is do we remember them?
Matthew Henry reminds us that God's mercies aren't wonders to be mentioned and never remembered. Rather, we are to MEDITATE on them. They become the stories that start with, "Have I ever told you about the time God..." I think it's one of Satan's great victories that he's convinced us others don't want to hear us recount the marvelous deeds of the LORD, that we prefer to speak of the weather or our favorite new recipe more than of what God has done and is doing every day in our lives.
We had the joy of celebrating Claire's birthday a bit early yesterday with our Pastor and his family. Yesterday was cake. Today there will be gifts. Every day there is the reminder that God is longsuffering and abounding in mercy, that His bounty of provision and blessings and kindness are beyond counting, but that we are responsible to declare what we can of them to our children and to the world.
Take time to read her story if you don't already know it. Had the initial diagnosis come to fruition, our little Jedediah and Elijah would most likely not be here.

A very happy birthday to you, Miss Claire!!!!!

PS JR saw the picture of the beautiful cake and started signing "More, more!"
Yay for more cake! :) It was fun making that little one. Key word: little. Ha!
DeleteHappy, Happy, Happy Big Girl 4th Birthday to you, Clairesy!!! You are so loved and cherished by all who know you. And, even though I don't really know you, I feel as if I do, and so I send my love and best wishes to you too!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sandy. I know just what you mean. Love to you, too!
DeleteHappiest of Birthdays to sweet little (BIG) Claire!! What a super sweet cake she got...did you make that my friend?? How wonderful it is to declare the works of our Great God!! Yes, indeed...HE is to be praised!!!

Camille
Yes, Camille, I did. I do best with little cakes. :) Thank you for rejoicing with me, as always. I love you.
DeleteYou have talent in the cake making/decorating department...soooo pretty!! XO
DeleteWhat a wonderful testimony! I did read the other two posts about Claire's prenatal adventures. There are at least three situations in my life and those of family members in which a reversal of the adversity requires a miracle by Grudem's definition. Your story encourages me to keep praying and leaning in. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI've prayed for you, that God would be so gracious as to do a miracle in these situations. Thank you for rejoicing with me and being so encouraging.
DeleteHi, Trisha! I just happened upon your blog. You write of having had multiple c-sections. I, too, have had several...4 to be exact. During the last c-section( 1 Year ago) my bladder was torn. It was successfully repaired, but my ob suggested that we not have anymore children. I was wondering if you ever suffered from a torn bladder and if you had any advice to offer. I would greatly appreciate it! May the Lord bless and keep you.

Ali,
DeleteI HAVE suffered a torn bladder...TWICE! Oh, I understand that hard providence. My doctor had me keep the catheter in for two weeks to make sure the healing was complete. It happened two c-sections in a row. Praise God the last two c-sections, my doctor was able to avoid that. It had to do with making the incision slightly higher, I believe. I'm not a doctor, of course, but having had the torn bladder happen twice and then having had two c-sections after that without that complication, I would encourage you to talk to your doctor again, or get a second opinion. Praying for you right now. Thanks so much for visiting. :)
