Seven Things

I just got home from taking Ink to have his four wisdom teeth removed. Praise God all went well with the procedure. Now we're dealing with the painful part--the recovery. A few things observed:

1) Four teeth removed at one time, though much less of an ordeal in the long run, still stinks.

2) When you're part of a large family and have your wisdom teeth removed, you have an audience for everything. Removing gauze. First bites of food. First sips of drink. And the Little People who make up that audience like to give a play by play of your behavior and your facial expressions, as they also declare that they don't want to go through what you're going through, but they'd love some of your Gatorade and ice cream.

3) For the first and probably last time, I controlled the iPod on the way home.

4) Ink's surgeon was a cool guy, even putting on Ink's driving cap BEFORE he put on the ice pack.

5) A mother never gets used to seeing her child in pain, no matter how old that child is.

6) "Oh, Mom," I told my mother, "he looks pitiful." Ink managed to get out something akin to "Humph."

7) Ink's passion for books runs deep. His first concern when we started driving home (and he's still a bit out of it)? Where I put his book.

Please pray God would give us all thankful hearts, and that He would spare Ink complications, providing quick healing.

With love,
Trisha

  2. I was chuckling at Ink's love of books. I'll be praying for his swift recovery and I'm sure that will happen....it is an advantage of being young. The reason I was chuckling about the books was because I had major pancreatric surgery this past August. I was in a stepdown icu unit. My huband got me settled as well as he could and left for home after a very long day. He called my girlfriend from the parking lot at the hospital and said, "she's in a lot of pain, but they are trying to get it under control" My girlfriend said that not 5 minutes later her phone rang again and it was ME, in my drug induced haze...."I'm in pain, but I'm reading my books" I most certainly was not reading any books. Those were some good drugs. Feel better soon, Ink

  3. Tell Ink to take it easy - I saw he's already got his books out! Oral surgery is still surgery. I pray he has a smooth recovery, no dry sockets! And I'm sure he's glad for all the "help" from his siblings :)

  4. Hope the recovery goes well...and quickly! Did he let you get pictures for his wedding? :)

Hope all is going well in your neck of the woods. I think I may be getting a bit more time for visiting my blogging friends. Been on a bit of a break here...just the way it goes sometimes w/ that big family thing, but my people are persuading me to keep our online scrapbook and friendships going!

At any rate...Have a good day! nursing that young man!....

  5. I had 1 removed and it was enough. I would never have them all removed at the same time. I wore my jaw out from only eating on one side for 3 months. Lol

  6. I love the picture of the littles wanting to observe and comment on every procedure. When the girls were little, I had sinus surgery and the girls were absolutely agog at the gauze changes and STILL can get fits of giggles remembering and telling on me. Ink shoud just resign himself now and forevermore that they will never forget and will tell these stories when he least wishes they would!
