So the big guys, Ink and Jake, left today for Mexico City. They'll be gone for three weeks 19 days. Well, three weeks 19 days for them. It will fly by. But, for us, it will feel like, oh, maybe a couple of years.
What a picture our families give us of the Church. We're reminded that when just one of us is missing, we sharply feel the absence. Every person is an essential part of the whole.
Yes, there will be an extra load of work for the rest of us to carry, but what we'll really be missing are an extra two loved ones to fight over the little bit of sweet tea left, to leave traces of their late night cravings for chocolate milk, to interrupt conversations with quotes from their latest reads, to make us laugh, to say, "Thank you for dinner, Mom. This is really good," to add their voices and hearts to our prayers and our singing--yeah, we'll miss everything about them.
And I won't even share a picture of Cap'n looking longingly and mournfully at Jake as he watched him load his luggage into the car. No, I just can't be responsible for making your heart break.
Prayers for safe travel are much appreciated. And please pray, too, that our sons would be a mega-blessing to the dear family, the Pliegos, who are showering them with such beautiful hospitality over these next weeks.
With love,
Trisha

"What a picture our families give us of the Church. We're reminded that when just one of us is missing, we sharply feel the absence." Beautiful insight, Trisha. May you be blessed knowing that your boys are refreshing the hearts of the saints as they travel (Rom 15:32) ♥
ReplyDeleteDiana,
Deleteyou made my day. Thank you.
Love and hugs!
Awww. You'll miss 'em. :( Three whole weeks! My!
ReplyDeleteThis is off topic, but I'm going to slip into movie lingo (book lingo for me) and say that Jake reminds me of the animated Tintin. I'm sure he's heard that before. *laughs*
:)
DeleteHope your guys have a great time!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Persis. No doubt they will be completely spoiled...and greatly edified!
DeleteI am sorry for you...but, I am happy :)
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Becky, we are so happy and thankful, very thankful! Love you!!
DeleteOh, how I understand the description of missing a part of the family. Truly. More than I ever have before. May the LORD give your precious young men safe travels. And, yes...may HE use them to be a blessing. I am sure HE will. The reunion will be oh. so. sweet. We must be patient for our reunion. But, it will be sweet too. Yes...it really will! What a precious family you have my sweet, sweet friend. Much Love, Camille XO
ReplyDeleteCamille, I know you do, my precious friend. Hugging you in my heart, praying for you...may the Lord continue to keep you and yours and strengthen you and pour out abundant grace. I love you. You are such an example of a heart that treasures Christ. xo
DeleteI love your analogy of how families remind us of the church. We will be feeling this in our own family far too soon. Love the photo. Praying for you and your family in these upcoming weeks <3
ReplyDeleteI know you'll be feeling this, Hollie. I'm praying!! Thank you for your prayers! Love you!
DeleteSo, I keep saying three weeks, but technically, it's only 19 days. It might as well be three weeks, right? :) Thanks for everyone who prayed. The boys arrived safely, and are having a wonderful time!
ReplyDelete*smiles* Aww, y'all sound so much like our family! Only last Friday we all had to make a trip with an overnight stay, leaving my two brothers at home to take care of things. We missed them soooo much, it felt like a great chunk of us was missing. It always feel like you're a fraction of a whole when you are experiencing something without all of your family there. :) I often wonder if that feeling will ever change for me.
