1 pound bread, crust removed if hard (I've used both homemade and store bought french bread.)
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
8 large eggs
2 c. heavy cream
1. Tear the bread into 1 inch pieces and put in large bowl. You'll have about 9 c. of bread.
2. In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon.
3. Whisk together the eggs, cream, and 3/4 c. of the cinnamon sugar in another large bowl and then pour over the bread, stirring until coated.
4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
5. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 9x13 inch pan with non-stick spray. Spread the batter in the prepared dish and sprinkle the top with the remaining cinnamon sugar. Bake until puffed and golden brown, 35 to 40 min.
6. Remove from oven, and serve with warm maple syrup.
One dish of this feeds our family just fine, and sometimes we have leftovers, which warm up nicely in the oven or microwave. Enjoy!

Hey!
ReplyDeleteI made this 2 weekends ago & am ready to make it again this weekend. If I can stand to wait ;o) Scott had been craving french toast for a few days and I remember reading about this recipe on here, so I made it and he absolutely L-O-V-E-D it! I don't know how many times he kept telling me through out the morning how good it was. He wants me to tell you to keep sharing your recipes. I find myself googling recipes a few times a week for my weekly dinner menu...your blog will be one of my stops for meal ideas. Thanks!
