Being a family of avid readers (and having some aspiring writers), we LOVE quotes. It's truly difficult to read our books and not come across something for our copybooks. We've aptly named these posts "Quoteworthy," and we'll include here great thoughts we come across in our readings. I personally keep a notebook specifically for memorable quotes, and the children, as they get older, begin to do the same. It's quite a treasure. So, find a pretty or handsome notebook or journal, and join us!
We'll start with a quote Scribe came across while reading from Whatever Happened to Penny Candy (a reader-friendly economics book).
"Five percent of the people think; ten percent of the people think they think; and the other eighty-five percent would rather die than think." Thomas Edison

I've read Whatever Happened to Penny Candy before and really enjoyed it. For some reason, I don't remember that specific quote though. Thanks for sharing it. Unfortunately, that quote is very representative of the current mental activity of Americans today.
ReplyDeleteHi Curtis,
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying this book, too. You can find this quote at the very back of the book in the section called "Distilled Wisdom," which contains quotes from famous men about economics and government.
