More Pictures and Birthday Wishes

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our dear son Scribe, who turns 15 today!  You've held the fort down in so many ways these past several days, and we are so thankful to you.  We know this isn't the ideal birthday celebration, but we're praising God for better days ahead when we can celebrate your birthday in proper Poff-style. :)  Meanwhile, we pray that you'll see the gifts God has for you in these circumstances and that you would joyfully know He is working all things together for good.  We praise God for the amazing blessing He gave us in you.  How humbled and honored we are to have you call us Mom and Dad.  We love you!

We cannot tell you how thankful we are for all of your prayers.  And, I must say, it's such an encouragement to my heart to read your comments of well-wishes and prayers.  Thank you so very much for taking the time to let us know you're thinking of us.  Thank you!  Thank you!

Sundays are slow days at the hospital, so there's not much new to report from the doctors.  How wonderful God is, though, that in the midst of trials, He gives us daily blessings to encourage us and strengthen us.  We had such great news yesterday when we found out that Mountain Man won't have to travel today as was scheduled.  If you think that's a given, think again.  We're praising God for working this out in such an easy way.  Another praise is how dramatically Luke's eye has improved.  I wasn't going to take the camera yesterday, but when Mountain Man told me how great Luke's eye looked, I knew I had to capture it on camera.

I ended up getting quite a few pictures yesterday, and how thankful I am that I did have my camera with me.  Luke and Mountain Man had a great time playing in the Child Life room, and we enjoyed visits from families from our church.

The Allisons left us with such a sweet parting gift as they sang "The Lord Bless You and Keep You" to Luke while we all sat in the lobby.  I wish I could have videotaped it!  Not only did they bless us, but others around stopped to listen, too, and one man commented that, "That must be how the angels sound in heaven."

The Radigans blessed us with a visit, too, and drove all the way to our home (45 minutes from their house) to get two of our children who had not yet seen Luke at the hospital.  We were so grateful, and our children were jumping with joy to be able to spend some time with Luke and Daddy (because they haven't seen him for days, either.)

The generosity of our friends has been truly amazing.

I'm off to treat Scribe to a birthday breakfast, and then we'll head to the hospital for awhile.  Then, I'll come back for my dear Mom and Aunt so they can get a chance to visit with Luke some more.  They'll be leaving early Wednesday morning, so we only have two more days together.

Enjoy some more pictures, and please continue to pray for us.  We are so grateful to each and every one of you.

Much love,

~Luke's eye was looking so much better yesterday morning!

~our friends, the Spencers, loaned Luke a Leap Pad game, and it has been such a blessing.  He has enjoyed it so much, especially since he can't write or draw right now because of the IV.

~There was a foosball (have no idea how to spell that!) table, and Luke got to play it for the first time with Daddy

~the Allisons blessed us with a nice visit and sweet music

~Isn't this chess set amazing?  Super big and super fun!

~fun instruments to play outside

~Luke has come to love this silly game called "Don't Break the Ice."  Here he is slightly jubilant after defeating Daddy.

~Luke managed to sink quite a few of Daddy's ships in Battleship

~It's the first time in days I've seen Luke give in to the need for a nap.  He wanted his history book about D-Day, given to him by the Radigans, right by his side.

~Luke was so happy to see his friends and brother and sister

And I pray that when he looks back at this time that he won't remember all the pain or the needles, but that incredible play area and his family playing the games with him=).

Happy Birthday to Scribe. I can tell you are a blessing to your family as you have to postpone your celebration a little longer. What a servant's heart.
