I'll Take Fries With That, Please

We praise God that Scribe had a much better day yesterday.  Tuesday was his roughest, as he wasn't able to eat or drink anything.  But, Wednesday, he was taken off the oxygen, was sitting up in a chair most of the day, and was finally able to take a bite of solid food.

His request?

French fries.

Now I was thinking crackers were the way to go, but you know, when you haven't eaten in almost 3 days, I think you know better than anyone what you'd like to at least  try once you can eat again.  Mountain Man would have moved heaven and earth to get his son french fries, but thankfully, he just had to go to the eatery downstairs. :)

So, when I left him yesterday evening, he was looking much better and had even laughed quite a few times.  Of course, Jedediah brings some of the biggest smiles to his face.

My Mom aptly observed that Scribe just isn't a complainer.  And, there are always things in a hospital to complain about.  Our son is the patient, but he is also our teacher, as we watch him quietly endure this path God has set before him.

"There is a vast difference between happiness and blessedness. Paul had imprisonments and pains, sacrifice and suffering up to the very limit; but in the midst of it all, he was blessed.  All the beatitudes came into his heart and life in the midst of those very conditions."
~Streams in the Desert

Scribe is blessed, and so are all of us as we continue to see God's gracious Hand in everything.

We're hoping for Saturday as his release date, and we continue to ask for prayers for pain management, no infection in the epidural site, strength, wise and caring medical staff, and increased faith and trust in our Heavenly Father.

With hearts full of thanks,
for all of the Poff Clan

  1. Oh Trisha, I'm so happy to see this wonderful update! I must have checked your blog twenty times over the last two days (and a couple of times this morning already) to see how your boy is doing. He's been in my prayers, especially that day after surgery. I used to work for a spine surgeon, and for the big cases, it seemed to be more often than not that the hardest day is the day after. So I'm glad to hear for him that he has pulled through that and is doing better! Praise God for His healing! Will continue to pray for his pain to be managed well and that it will subside so that "management" is not needed real soon.
Love to you, my friend! And prayers continue from TX!

(PS - Kindergarten is going BEAUTIFULLY for Zoe! She LOVES it and we have been sweetly blessed already! And as she looks over my shoulder, she read that last sentence perfectly!)
