The big guys are outside stringing lights. A vanilla custard and apple pie candle is burning in the kitchen. The smell of an Aspen Christmas tree fills the air. We're waiting on the turkey to finish cooking while we listen to this. The house is clean and hearts are at peace with one another.
Yes. It's one of those evenings when you are especially reminded of the rich treasure of HOME.
Finally, I'm getting around to posting our Thanksgiving pictures. It was a wonderful and worshipful day! We enjoyed our traditional menu and worked together to get everything on the table. There were bits of book-reading, lego-building, baby-cuddling, football-watching, camera-evading moments throughout the day, and we enjoyed reflecting on God's goodness to us throughout the past year as we read our Ebenezer cards.
(Reaches Up is quite the joker!)
(This is for those who wanted to see a recent picture of Scribe. :))
I tried a new and very, very simple cranberry sauce recipe. It was a hit, and later enjoyed on toast.
Cranberry-Pomegranate Sauce
1 bag (12-16 ounces) fresh cranberries
16 ounces, fluid Pomegranate Juice
3/4 c. sugar, more or less to taste
Combine all ingredients in medium saucepan and cook over medium-low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning. Mixture will thicken as it cooks and will thicken more as it cools.
Cool in jar or bowl in fridge.

Scribe has his 3 month follow-up with the surgeon this week. (We ran into her at Costco a couple days ago, and she was sincerely delighted to see us, giving me a hug and a kiss.) He's doing quite well, but we do appreciate prayers that he will have complete pain relief and continue to grow strong in the Lord from this experience.***
We are deeply thankful to God for the traveling mercies he pours out on Mountain Man each day as he drives to and from work. We were praising Him even more this past week when God protected Mountain Man from an oncoming drunk driver.Noticing swerving headlights coming his way that then abruptly disappeared, Mountain Man discovered the car had driven off the side of the road. He called 911 and waited with another driver for the police to arrive. (There were no complaints about the delay in getting home!) How grateful we are to the Lord for His protection.

Quote from my Bible reading in the Psalms this week...
"Let us all speak of God as we have found; and have we ever found Him otherwise than just and good? No; our God is merciful, merciful to us, and it is of His mercies that we are not consumed."
~Matthew Henry
May you speak the truth of God's Word to yourself today and remember how bountifully He has dealt with you.
Much love,

Your girls are so beautiful! And I'm so thankful for your husbands safety.
ReplyDeleteI got back on the computer after
ReplyDeleteI had shut it down, just thinking
maybe there are more pictures. I
was not disappointed. I would like
to see another pic of Scribe when
he lets me see his face. I love that boy. Everything looked so nice. I'll have to try the cranberry recipe for Christmas. It's different from the one I usually make. Thanks so much for the pictures. They mean so much to me. I love and miss all of you. I
can't explain to you just how empty I feel when I'm not with them.
HUGS,

So thankful that God watches over
ReplyDeleteBen as he traveles the distance
to and from work. Glad God kept
him safe from the drunk driver.
