I wish my Dad were here to see these wonderful moments. (Actually, it would be the biggest of blessings if my Mom could just make it here to see Elijah for the first time!) It's amazing to me to think of the things he couldn't imagine while he was here...that one day those ties he bought to wear to church would be worn by his grandsons. That little Elijah would favor him so much.
Every day there are moments that connect us to the past and hint at the future, that remind us of loved ones here and loved ones gone. They're all treasures, and I'm thankful to be able to capture them and record them and share them.
I'm thankful for Sarge's amazing impression of Winnie the Pooh!
I'm thankful for a freshly bathed baby who's cuddled in an awesome army green baby towel, made with lots of love by a friend who was "listening" to Ink complain about everything being blue for boys.
I'm thankful for baby feet that remind me of my great-grandfather's request to my Mom when she'd visit him at the nursing home, "Kiss those feet for me!"
I'm thankful for older children who patiently teach younger ones.
This. This is the one. When I look at Elijah here I can't help but see how much he favors my Dad. The blue eyes. The bit of red in the hair.
I'm thankful for smiles like this.
I'm thankful that Jedediah has now joined us at the "big" table, and we officially have no more room. :) Yes, a wall must be knocked out and a new table built within the next two years. I'm thankful Luke thinks it's incredibly natural to hold a baby while doing his Bible study.
I'm thankful for my beautiful green fruit bowl that screams "cottage" and for children who can never get enough fruit to eat.
I'm thankful for sweet Jill and the hard work and time and love she put into these burp cloths for Sarge. Aren't they amazing?
I'm thankful to know that every good thing comes from His mighty hand and that He fills my cup to overflowing, over and over and over.
With love,
Trisha

Those pictures of Elijah are absolutely precious. I can't get over the Winnie the Pooh poses - and the towel-wrapped face! Adorable :)
ReplyDeleteSo adorable! We just moved Rosie to the table and we are squishing in quite nicely. A full table is a blessing and more is just icing on the cake :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the capes. That could be our house as well :-)
"Sarge" love that name!! Wish I had thought of it. You don't mind if I borrow it if we are ever so blessed to have another one do ya'?
Off to count sheep now, nighty night.
