~We resumed our lessons this week, and things went quite well, considering we had been out of our routine for a couple of weeks. We're almost finished with Term 1 of Ambleside Online, and Scribe and Little Big Man had great attitudes as they hit the books again. We finally finished up three of our read alouds, which really pleased this Mama, as I'm hoping to get a couple more done before we take a break for Next Girl's arrival. Thank You, Lord, for the blessing of schedules and routines that help us stay grounded and focused and help us appreciate even more those "out of the ordinary" days of our lives.
~I mentioned in a previous request for prayer, my cousin was hospitalized this week with heart issues. Her heart actually stopped after they arrived at the hospital. After getting her stabilized, she was moved to the critical care unit and has since been moved to a regular room. Her potassium levels were severely out of balance, and the doctors are still having difficulty getting her heart rate to be where it should. She's developed a severe sinus infection and will have to be on IV antibiotics for three weeks once she returns home. Please continue to pray that the doctors would discern the reason behind her sudden heart failure, for strength for her and her family, and of course, for complete healing. Thank You, Lord , for mercifully sparing Michele's life. Thank You for each breath You give us. Teach us to live each moment for Your glory.
~THIS was driving me crazy...
They worked so hard and diligently, even blessing me with comments like, "This is the funnest thing I've done in my life!" or "I'd rather do this than watch a movie!" (I know...it's crazy! But am I not blessed that they had such GREAT attitudes?) Several hours later, the mess of a pantry looked like this.....
~The saga with my nose continues. At my appointment last week, the doctor explained that the area from which she took the skin for the graft has opened up, that she can't tell if the graft is still in place (I don't think it is), and that I'll have to return for weekly visits until the area actually heals. She's still puzzled by the redness and tenderness and is contemplating additional antibiotics (I've already been on topical antibiotics as well as a 10 day round of oral..) but, of course, that's not the best thing for my Crohn's. She mentioned the possibility of the antibiotics that I'll be given during my c-section as being beneficial to my nose, but.....that's a little over 5 weeks away!:) I've researched a bit on other recommendations and came across a site touting the benefits of wheatgrass for healing of the skin graft. If any of you natural remedy experts out there know anything about it, please leave your thoughts! I'm thinking I don't have much to lose at this point. However, I am thankful for the acceptance, at least, that God has given me of the situation. It's been 5 weeks now with no end in sight, but God has used this experience to teach me much, much about my heart, and for that I am so thankful! Thank you, Lord, that nothing we go through is without purpose and that there is no peace like that which comes from trusting Your sovereign Hand.
Until next time,
Queen Mom for the Poff Clan
Oh My goodness. What a mess. !!!
ReplyDeleteBut - Team Sparkle did such a wonderful job in cleaning and making everything sparkle. - And what great attitudes. I'm so proud of Team Sparkle. Sure wish I could hire them to help me out. Your post just blessed my day. Still praying for Michele and your nose, Queen Mom. God is good. Love you and miss you more than I can say.
LOVE,
MEMAW/MOM
Way to go Team Sparkle! I was going to say that (even though I was terribly busy) I would have loved to come help your organize and clean; but then when I saw the picture I remembered that you had your own professional cleaning service in your home! I am so glad they have been such a blessing in this area, as well as many others.
ReplyDeleteWow, I could use Team Sparkle at my
ReplyDeletehouse. They did an awesome job and had fun too. I did get a couple of
cabinets cleaned out last week. I felt I had really accomplished
something.
Trish, I'm still praying for you and I'm believing that you will see complete healing in God's time.
Michele is looking forward to going
home tomorrow (Monday). I pray she won't be disappointed and end up having to stay longer. But I want what's best for her health.
Love you Poff Family, Auntie Marian
Wow you all did a nice job with that pantry! Do you think that you could let us borrow your Team Sparkle sometime?? :)
ReplyDeleteI am still praying for you nose and for your cousin. I am glad that you might have found some things to help with the healing.
We will be praying even harder for your cousin. I know that it is no fun to be in the hospital (either for the one who is actually in it and for the loved ones of the person.)
Much love to you all!
Sarah
And I thought my pantry was the only one that needed straightening!!I wonder what the cost of a plane ticket for Team Sparkle would run me :) Once again, I admire your commitment to training them to do such good work!! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteMichele
Hi Michele,
ReplyDeleteYes, the problem is that in 6 months it could very well be back to the mess it was before. Things seem to work that way around here...I know..maintenance is the key, but somehow we get behind. :) Team Sparkle loves to get paid with lots of praise and bits of chocolate here and there. Actually, all they wanted to do when they were done was to have 15 minutes using a computer art program we got them for Christmas. Not too bad, huh? I do wish we could contract them out to all our family. They would bring lots of experience, hugs, and plenty of smiles! Love you!
Hey,, ya'll... those four-little ones did a great job.... wish I could get them for a couple of weeks... they would have our basement beautiful in no time... we are still praying for your healing ... hope it's not long... love you... Granma & Paw-Paw (Ralph &Ruth0
