3-2-1

Ladies,
God-willing, three weeks from today, Elijah Henry will join us! I greatly covet your prayers, and I gladly list some specific requests.

You might think that after already having seven c-sections, it's not a big deal to have another one. But it is. A c-section is never a small thing, though many women breeze through it as though it is. Truly, getting through a delivery, regular or by c-section, is a mercy from the LORD.

Our ride to the hospital normally starts out with my having the closest thing to a panic attack I've ever known. My Beloved prays with me and calms me, and I'm so thankful for his compassion and the LORD's provision. Part of the anxiousness is knowing what to expect AND knowing that part of what to expect is not knowing what to expect.

For the last few deliveries, I have spent that entire first day very sick. Believe me, you don't want to know what it's like to retch non-stop after major abdominal surgery. A couple of those times, I've gotten sick soon after the surgery starts. I'm lying there feeling quite sorry for the anesthesiologist who got me for a patient!

Now for the specific prayer requests:

1) Wisdom and skilled hands for my doctor
2) Competent and kind and compassionate nurses and anesthesiologist
3) Lots of healthy, loud screaming from Elijah and a blow-them-away-with -a-10 score on the Apgar
4) No torn bladder or other complications from the c-section
5) No getting sick during or after the c-section
6) That Elijah would take to nursing without any problems
7) That Chick-Fil-A wouldn't run out of waffle fries (had to insert a bit of humor here). They just built one not even a block from the hospital! Have I mentioned that I never eat hospital food? My Beloved eats the meals and then buys me something else. Yes, I'm blessed.
8) A super-calm spirit for me and a clear mind that focuses on the truth of His Word, regardless of my circumstances

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

With love,
Trisha

  1. Thinking of you and praying all will go smoothly, Lord willing. Do they schedule your c-section knowing you will need one or wait for you to go into labour? With three of mine said I could try if I went into labour before complications set in and I had to be delivered. Which happened. Fourth they said no trial and of course it was the only time I went into labour and them emergency caesarian! Only my first little son was born naturally. God bless you and Elijah and all of your family.

    1. Ruby,
      My doctor, a few c-sections ago, was willing to let me go into labor, but I'm past that point now. My first, too, was my only one born naturally. Thank you so much for your prayers. I'm very grateful! {hugs}

  7. Dear Trisha,
You know without asking that I will pray. I have already been praying and had included some of the requests on your list. I will now include the others. The time is so very close now! May each passing day find you growing stronger in every way and ready and able to do what needs to be done in order to bring precious Elijah into this world for God's glory! I can hardly wait to see his adorable tiny face! He will be beautiful as are all your other littles.

  10. Oh Trisha, I will be praying for you! I've had 2 C-sections and then a hysterectomy with the old-school vertical incision. I said they should have installed a zipper the first time.

  13. What a glowing picture of you!! Love to see Mama's who LOVE children. I am praying for all you listed. My dtr in love is expected to deliver soon. She was soo hoping for a VBAC but her blood pressure is going up and they are very close to doing a C-section. So that list is one I'll pray for both of you~

Even the prayer about the Chick-fil-a because just today we saw they are opening a new one about 10 minutes from the hospital. How funny!

Hoping you are as comfortable as can be these final weeks.

    Much love, ~Cinnamon

  15. Praying for you sweet friend. You look radiant and I can't wait to see new photos of Elijah when he arrives and hear all the wonderful blessings you will have to share with us. I printed this out so that I can remember and pray for each of your requests. I am praying this very night that you would not be anxious for anything-that your heart would be full of peace and that everything would go smoothly-no sickness and that sweet Elijah would be bone with a beautiful set of lungs to shout out to the Loud upon his arrival-scoring a 10!! Praying for you kiddos at home too and your hubby balancing it all between both places, home and the hospital. Love you and I can't wait to be able to see your photos and be able to hear about the birth. So excited for you and your family. Love you-hugs and prayers.
