In an earlier post I discussed the trend of young Moms being the new Titus 2 women. You can read it here, and I'd encourage you to read all of my words, especially the ones that affirm that we all, young and more mature, have something to learn from each other. (It perplexes me a bit that this is one of my most viewed posts.)
Finally, here are some of the Titus 2 women in my own life, and there will even be some who don't fit the age-mold. I've also included two women whom I'd label dangerous, and not in that politically correct "only dangerous women change the world" way. I mean dangerous as in dangerous theology and dangerous advice. Reading these women's blogs are like camping out with fools. They're the ones who, when you see them coming, you should run from. If our theological-sniffers are well-tuned in discernment, one look at their blogs would have us saying, "no thank-you."
Does that sound harsh? I'm sorry if you think so, but in the name of grace we women dance around too much with heresy and blasphemy. There are some women who simply won't edify you, and you're wasting your time if you insist on mucking through the trash just to find a gem of advice or lingering at their sites with some secret desire to be the one voice of truth they finally listen to. Pray for them, of course, but don't play with fire by reading their posts.
Wise women:
Elisabeth Elliot
Barbara Hughes
Carolyn Mahaney
Marilyn Boyer
Denise Sproul
Pam Forster (Doorposts)
Nancy Wilson
Martha Peace
Ann Ortlund
Kim Brennamen
Wise women I could actually have lunch with (these are women I know through the blogosphere):
Kim Shay
Persis Lorenti
Becky Pliego
Christina Langella
Diane at Theology for Girls
Cindy at Ordo Amoris
Jo at Hearth and Home
Staci at Writing and Living
Elizabeth DeBarros
Rebecca at Rebecca Writes
Camille
Wise Beyond Their Years:
Rachel Jancovic
Jessica at Grace Alone (I could have lunch with her, too. :))
Brandy at Afterthoughts
Danger! Danger!:
Rachel Held Evans
Elizabeth Esther
Reminder! Just because I recommend these women or have learned from them doesn't mean we agree on everything. It doesn't mean that there aren't points I take issue with in their writings. Please sharpen your own discernment skills by being in the Word and not expecting others to spoon-feed you the truth while at the same time being teachable. (I know. It's a tough balance.) Be a Berean and pray God would give you a passion for His truth.
And yes, I know this list isn't exhaustive. After all, I didn't even include the "misled" women who inhabit the blogosphere. I know, too, there are more wise women out there, of course, especially the ones we get to hug each week in real life.
With love,

Oh, you are sweet. Personally, I'd like it if you and everyone else on that list and I could all have coffee together. That would be a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteThank you for including me in this list. You have no idea how you encourage me with your love and devotion to your family and to solid theology.
And yes, Rachel Held Evans is a woman to run from. It may be harsh, but she has a lot of influence, and not for the good.
Oh Trisha, It's a true honor to have you include me on that list along with all these other wonderful women. I'm with Kim, I do wish we could all meet up for coffee. There has got to be some centralized place where we might be able connect someday - like Lake Tahoe, Nevada -- lol!
ReplyDeleteYour blog and that kid of yours are such a blessing to me too!
XOXO!
Thank you, Trisha, for putting me on your list. I'm with Kim and Diane. I wish we could be together this side of the marriage supper of the Lamb. I thank God for you, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Trisha, I am honored. And I, too, would like to see all of us get together this side of heaven :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for the support and encouragement you offer us younger moms who are striving to raise children who love and serve the Lord.
Reading that made my day!
ReplyDeleteOh that the LORD would truly be glorified...HE alone is worthy!! I am thankful for YOU and for your friendship AND for the fact that you share your heart AND the Truth the LORD has shown you from HIS Word. HE has given you wisdom my sweet friend, and it is a blessing to know you.
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
Camille
Sorry for all the capitals...they were for emphasis (obviously), and now they look *too much*. :)
ReplyDeleteLove you! xo
Well I found your list interesting! (Now have to go check out those blogs!) I truly believe that God gives us Titus 2 women in our own sphere and that we should first connect there. I think that is why your "dangerous" ladies get a following ~ women are looking in all the wrong places. I reckon also that is why your former post got so many views. I know I used to google things like Titus 2 hoping to find a good article or blog before I hit upon the wonderful circle of bloggers that I frequent now.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say that your family photo is just gorgeous!
Oh dear! I had a look at the dangerous ones first. Bad move. Thanks for the heads up. Will check a few of your coffee mates and I am sure will be much more edified.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading some of these women's blogs, I don't think I'm familiar with any of them! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteTrisha, Thanks for providing this wonderful list. I look forward to getting to know some of these women. I appreciate you and your heart! Jessica
ReplyDeleteThank you for this list! Many of those women (including you) from the blogosphere (on the good list lol) have been a tremendous blessing to me. I thank the Lord for allowing me to learn from them often!
ReplyDelete::blush::
ReplyDeleteAren't you sweet!
I love your "would have lunch with" list. Many of those are on my list, too!
Along with *you*, of course.
{{{hugs}}}
Catching up on my reading this morn Trish and only seeing this now! I am truly honored that you would include me on this list alongside so many of our other beloved sisters! And I am so with Kim Shay in that it would be soooo wonderful to one day be in the company of everyone! I also respect you naming the two women whose theology can be considered dangerous. I have never heard of them but I've received fair warning now! Sending you all my love!
ReplyDeleteI love your new family photo at the top of you blog. Just precious. Praying you are doing well.
ReplyDeleteLove you
Jill
Trisha--Some of these ladies are well-known to me and I've been exploring some of your other favorites. Thank you! (And I'm very happy to say I don't know the spooky ones.)
ReplyDeleteYikes that last comment was from me, Bambi! But...isn't my daughter cute, anyway? LOL!
ReplyDeleteBambi,
DeleteI think if you and I ever got to meet one another, we'd spend much of our time laughing...and hopefully, drinking REAL sweet tea! :) Hugs!!
