The King's Daughter: A Book Review by Whistler (age 7)

I just finished The King's Daughter. My favorite story was called "Telling Mother." It was about four girls who were in a circle on the sidewalk, whispering, until a little girl came up. Then, the little girl said, "What are you whispering about?" One of the big girls said, "I'm telling a secret to them. Promise not to tell, and I'll tell you." Then the little girl said, "I won't tell anyone except my Mother. I always tell her things because she is my best friend." And then the big girl said, "Then we won't tell you." The little girl walked away, rather sadly, but happily. She said, "What I cannot tell my mother is unfit for me to know." The End.

This is my favorite story because I like how the little girl did not listen because she likes to tell her mother everything. I think other girls would love this book. It inspires girls to love one another, to keep their room clean and their clothes nice. It also teaches girls to encourage one another. It also talks about repentance and Jesus dying on the cross.

  3. Emma,
I really enjoyed your retelling. You did a great job. I enjoyed reading that book too and knew just which story you meant by your telling. I hope to hear about more books you read soon. What book is next?
My boys and I are reading The Little House books. Have you read all of them? We are just on the second book, Little House on the Prairie.
    Happy reading.
    Love Mrs. Spencer
