'' The things that will destroy America are prosperity- at- any- price,
peace- at- any- price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft
living, and the get- rich- quick theory of life.''
" Peace is generally good in itself, but it is never the highest good unless it comes as the handmaiden of righteousness; and it becomes a very evil thing if it serves merely as a mask for cowardice and sloth, or as an instrument to further the ends of despotism or anarchy.''
(***the word despotism means absolute power and authority, also known as tyranny)
Servant of the King,
Little Big Man
Hey Little Big Man! This is your first post, isn't it? Glad you've started posting.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for posting those quotes. I really enjoyed reading them. I like that Roosevelt realized that the highest virtue is righteousness and that all others have to be subservient to it. For that is where the true prosperity of America lies. God is King no matter who we elect as president and He controls the prosperity, peace, and safety of this country.
Hey Jake... I am glad you enjoy reading... keep it up!!!!I enjoy reading about what ya'll are doing!!! Love to all... Grandma

Little Big Man,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your posting Of Theodore Roosevelt's quotes from the book "Carry A Big Stick".(I do not know how to bold type on my computer) :( Our country is living by the principles of prosperity, and peace at any price. As I think about the quotes that you have shared, I am very aware of the yearning our country has for soft living, and get rich quick schemes. One would not usually equate the word peace with evil. One always strives for peace, but how many know that peace must come with righeousness? Upon reflecting upon Roosevelt's words about peace being a very evil thing, I can now understand that we do use peace as a mask for cowadice, and sloth, and as an instrument for tyranny, and anarchy. I think of the things that are happening today in our country, and I realize that the people in power are using peace as a very powerful weapon.Little Big Man, thank you for sharing such thought provoking words.I would love to read, and discuss this book with you. I have put this book on my "must reads" book list.I am so proud of you for writing this post, and will look forward to future postings.
Love, Auntie C
