In our geography studies, we learned about the layers of the earth. Did you know that there is clean water in the Earth's Crust wherever we walk? But you do have to dig very deep to get to it.
Please count to 8.
The author shared with us that in that short amount of time, a child just like me died because of drinking dirty water. So, we decided to do a project that would help others have some clean water.
Just get a jar and start putting money in it. Any spare change will do and dollar bills, too. When you're done, you can send your money to one of these places listed below. Here's a picture of the jar that I labeled for us to use. As the author suggested, we're going to keep it by the sink to help us remember that we are blessed to have clean water and to put money in the jar to help others.
Here are the places you can send money to...
World Vision (look at their online gift catalog and select "clean water" www.worldvision.org
Operation Blessing: Living Waters Project www.ob.org/programs/living_water/index.asp
Samaritan's Purse (look online for their gift catalog to give "living water" and clean water, too! www.samaritanspurse.org
At the end of September, we'll collect our money and buy clean water for others. Please do this with us, and let us know in the comments.

Whistler
I thinl this is a wonderful idea... I don't know if I could remember to fill the jar... Love to all..Grandma..
ReplyDeleteOf course you can remember! We'd love to have you do this with us. :) Love, Your Grandkids
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture of Whistler and Claire. Whistler, you did a great job with this post. I already have a jar that I use to drop my spare change. Now, I'll probably need a reminder to count the money in the jar and send it to one of the organizations you have listed. I'll try.
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs sent your way.
Memaw
Whistler, what a great idea. I always save my change so I will pick one of the organizations you suggested and send a donation in September. It's amazing how quick the change adds up to dollars.

Thank you, MeMaw and Auntie Marian! I'll help remind you to send your change in. Love and miss you both! XOXOXO
ReplyDeleteWhistler, Thank you for the great idea to help others have clean water. Brandon, and I will do this with your family. We will keep you updated on our progress. I think keeping the jar by the sink is a perfect way to remind ourselves of the clean water we drink, and use every day.

Auntie Catherine
