Watching this will take away less than 10 minutes from your life, but it could truly inspire you to rethink the choices you make each day. Every day the world is telling us what God calls sin is not sin, and Christians like to play with this kind of fire quite a bit.
I love how Pastor Harris emphasizes what God calls us to really know, and it's not all of the details about evil. It made me reflect not just on my own heart, but also on the hearts of my children. Am I being as diligent as I should be in turning them away from evil and to good? Where do all of the daily influences lead? And what voices am I listening to to determine what is good and evil? Is it the Word, or do I too easily give in to the thought that other Christians find certain things acceptable and therefore shrug my shoulders and agree that I should, too?
It's much food for thought, and it's definitely convicting. As the song says, bondage to sin is most often a "slow fade" as we let our guards down bit by bit.

I listened to the video several
ReplyDeletetimes. The bean bag was very meaningful when it comes to evil.
We can look at a certain sin thinking it won't hurt us, but what happens, Joshua Harris got in the middle of the bean bag and then had a hard time getting out. Isn't that how we are when we give in to our evil desires. Once we've given in, then it is much harder to get out. God is wanting us to trust in Him and turn away from the evil that so easily besets us.
Sure do like Joshua Harris. Would like to hear more of him. Thanks for sharing. The video was very meaningful.

Trisha, very good video! We sat and watched it together, and so many things we've discussed kept coming to mind. One phrase I hear a lot in the Christian community is "win the right to be heard" which is usually followed by the thought that we have to know their books/videos/songs/ideas before we can witness to them. How unlike Paul that thinking is. John taught on Phil. 1 this week, and I was really drawn to verse 27. This analogy goes perfectly with that verse. We MUST turn away from evil - all forms of it - if we are to truly be a witness of Christ. I ached from the beating I took while watching that video as I see so many areas I haven't been willing to turn from evil, but I'm also encouraged that God will complete the work He began in me!! Hugs!!!
