No matter how old we are, we can find many reasons to abandon our duties. Here is our new poem for memorization to help us (all of us :)) remember to not let that lazy habit take root in our hearts.
"Your Duty"
~Fanny Allen
When little children try to shirk
From doing any honest work
And always have a good excuse
If asked to be of any use,
They'll find the lazy habit grow
As nearly all the elders know.
And very likely hard to break
Though one may lots of trouble take.
So, start today, and do your bit.
I'm sure you will be glad of it.

OUCH!!! What more can I say. I wish I had memorized AND applied that 20, 30, 40 years ago. I think that will be a great memorization for the start of our school year. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove you!!!!
What a precious picture!! 3 beautiful little girls with beautiful little smiles :) Thank you for that...I love the poem too...I think we have each person in our family memorize that...for it is easy for the lazy root to spring up in each of us!

Michele :)
I really need a picture of the girls you posted. I love each of their smiles. They make me laugh, but also cry because I miss them so much. I need to copy the poem so I can memorize it. Of course, with my old age, it will be difficult. Love and miss you.
